Thermal Conductivity Test Tool λ-Meter EP500e

Tool inspection in accordance with ISO 9000 / ISO 9001

For tool-users, who are ISO9000 / ISO9001 certified or are planning to do so we recommend a regular inspection of the tool focussing on test accuracy of the single-specimen thermal conductivity test tool λ-Meter EP500e as follows:

  • Supply of a special and carefully measured reference specimen with long-term stability. The tool operator can use this specimen to verify the accuracy of the tool at regular intervals (e.g. monthly or quarterly). The "EP500-Control Program" will then prepare and file a respective test report.

  • Additionally the tests results can be processed and presented in the format of a so-called "Error Analysis Report" (for error analysis and remedy). This report can be sent to the laboratory of Lambda-Meßtechnik GmbH Dresden for evaluation. The report helps to identify internal tool deviations for the individual variables that are used to calculate the thermal conductivity even if the test values have no significant discrepancy. All results of this examination will be documented in another report. If actual discrepancies do occur the tool user will of course get the best support possible to remedy the deviation and the tool will be restored to maximum accuracy.

  • In some cases the ISO certification authority does not accept the reference specimen as evidence for the long-term stability of the tool. The tool can therefore be ordered in a special “ISO 9000-configuration”. This option allows the tool owner to check the individual test variables that are used to calculate the thermal conductivity for accuracy. It verifies that those variables are determined with a constant accuracy. A special “ISO 9000-test” can be done with the “ISO 9000- configuration”. During this test, the control unit displays the current temperature on the sensor-plates, the heat fluxes across the gap and towards the counter heater as well as the heating voltage and heating current. These signals are connected to coloured sockets situated on the back panel of the single-specimen thermal conductivity test tool λ-Meter EP500 for internal verification. This allows the user to measure (during stationary operation) the necessary signal voltages using a digital voltmeter of sufficient accuracy and to compare these with the values displayed by the control unit. The heating current can be verified indirectly with an external voltage reading over the internal precision resistor (0.1 %, temperature coefficient: 1). The verification of the measured temperatures is done by comparing the displayed real temperatures to the measured voltages on a temperature-voltage graph (provided with the configuration). This option clearly goes unmatched by any other tool manufacturer.

  • Also the tool-owner may always and anytime return his tool to the laboratory of Lambda-Meßtechnik GmbH Dresden for service and maintenance if necessary.
